Bringing equity to the airwaves one member at a time

The Women’s Radio Collective formed in January of 2009 at CJAM 99.1 FM. Our mandate is to attract, train and retain female volunteers to create gender equity in campus-community radio. We offer opportunities for women to learn and develop broadcasting skills to produce their own alternative media. The collective fosters female empowerment on and off the airwaves, and encourages members to assert their feminist perspectives.

Collective Activity Update and Milk&Vodka for May 25th

Members of the CJAM Women's Collective participated in the Walk for a Creative City that occured at the Windsor riverfront on Monday May 18th. We were happy to support endeavour to promote local creative representation and proudly stand for the arts as important to the Windsor community in various ways! Tom Lucier of Phog Lounge pepped up all that came to participate while simultaneously Windsor's birthday was being celebrated also alongside strikers. To see this, check out the previous post and follow up post on Tom Lucier's blog as well as the videos below! The riverfront was a lively place that day and continues to be - the city is buzzing!

This week Kate Hargreaves and Nicole Markham hosted another edition of Milk & Vodka! Tried to keep it somewhat electronically influenced due to DEMF that occurred over the weekend - hope you got a chance to listen to preempted CJAM programming for the event and/or celebrate Movement 2009 in some way or another!
