WRC Weekly Shows

Members of the Women's Radio Collective are responsible for generating content for two different prime time programs in CJAM's broadcast schedule, which are hosted by a rotating cast of volunteers. Non-members are welcome to contribute to our radio programs too - all you need is supervision from an official WRC member, which we'll provide for free.

Milk and Vodka - Monday's 5 to 6 PM
A free-form music program, with emphasis on female artists and disc jockeys operating the controls. Previous program features include a look at the founding women of hip-hop, ladies of jazz, a retrospectice of British punk band The Slits, and much more. Theme-based shows are encouraged, by anything music related can be presented for our listeners.

Genesis - Wednesday's 8:30 to 9 PM
A spoken word program dedicated to dissecting the world of pop culture or anything news worthy. Previous program topics include menstruation as taboo, body hair, the "c" word and more. Topic driven shows, panel discussion, and interviews of any kind are accepted.

Additionally, the WRC maintains this blog regularily, promotes women's based event in the community and local female musicians and performers. We foster partnerships with other area non-profits and create special programming on CJAM each year for International Women's Day (March 8).

Want to join?

The Women’s Radio Collective holds meetings each month to meet with new members, schedule training and brainstorm new story ideas. No previous radio experience is required and it’s FREE to join.

Being a part of the collective is an excellent way to contribute to the Windsor-Detroit community without a huge time investment; you’ll get volunteer experience that looks great on any resume, expand your knowledge of sociopolitical issues and underground music, and connect with other like-minded ladies to design media that challenges misconceptions and stereotypes about women.

Come on by CJAM's offices and introduce yourself! We're located in the basement of the C.A.W. Student Center on the University of Windsor campus (around the corner from the Pharmacy).
